Please Help to Sustain the Journal
Shashi has been an open-access scholarly journal for more than a decade. Launched in 2012, it has been published through the Pitt Open Library Publishing program by the University of Pittsburgh Library System (ULS), which provided free publication for many years. This year, however, ULS introduced an annual publication fee of $1,500. Because our editor-in-chief is affiliated with Pitt, Shashi receives a $500 discount, leaving an annual fee of $1,000.
We are seeking contributions to help cover this fee and keep Shashi freely available to readers around the world.
How to Support Shashi
- Visit the University of Pittsburgh Library System giving page.
- From the Designation drop-down menu, select “General Library Fund—Unrestricted Support.”
- Email Hiro Good at hng2@pitt.edu with your name so that your gift can be earmarked for Shashi. Please be sure to send an email, as we cannot allocate your contribution to the Shashi account without it.
Contributions can be made by Google Pay, Venmo, PayPal, Cash App Pay, or credit card. You will receive the documentation needed for tax purposes
Any contribution, large or small, would be greatly appreciated. Please make your contribution by the end of September, when the publication fee is due.
Shashi is entering a new chapter following the passing of our founding editor-in-chief, Martha Chaiklin, this past February. The journal now has a new editor-in-chief and six new editors, and we are broadening its scope to include Japanese business and management, as well as Japan's position in the global economy. Volume 9, scheduled for publication in October, will be a memorial issue dedicated to Martha.
If you value Shashi, please help spread the word by sharing this page with colleagues, students, researchers, libraries, and others who may wish to support an open-access journal devoted to Japanese business and company history.
Thank you for helping us keep Shashi freely available to the research community.
